Live jazz-fusion gig by Newcastle band Knats at Yellow Arch Studios, over-16s only.
Knats are playing Yellow Arch Studios on Monday 26 October, their only Sheffield date that week. They're a Newcastle jazz-fusion band who've built a name for themselves around a sound they call 'Geordie Jazz'—a mix of high-energy jazz fusion, drum 'n' bass, punk intensity, electronic influences and danceable grooves. Jazzwise described it as 'jaw-dropping brilliance'.
If you're not familiar with the name, that description tells you where they sit. It's jazz fusion that doesn't stay in the lounge; the drum 'n' bass and electronic elements bring a clubby, dancefloor energy, while the punk intensity keeps it from ever feeling too polite. It's the kind of gig where you can listen and appreciate the musicianship, but you're just as likely to end up moving. The 'Geordie Jazz' tag is their own, a nod to their Newcastle roots and the particular way they blend these styles together.
Yellow Arch Studios is in Neepsend, and the night starts well before the band takes the stage. The bar and SLICE Guys Pizza in the courtyard are both open from 6pm, so you can get a drink and a slice in before the music kicks off. The show runs from 7:30pm to 11pm, with Knats as the sole act on the bill.

Tickets are £13.00. It's an over-16s night, with under-18s admitted if they're with an adult. If you're coming from across the city, the courtyard opening at 6pm gives you plenty of time to settle in before the first note.
