The Pearl River Band bring their psychedelic sound to Yellow Arch Studios for a Halloween show, described as a hometown headline show.
The Pearl River Band are playing Yellow Arch Studios on Saturday 31 October, a hometown headline show in Sheffield on Halloween night. It's a single-band bill, so they're the only act on the night.
They're one of the city's most exciting new bands, and this is a headline slot on their own turf. The sound they're working with is psychedelic rock, and they're open about where it comes from: Jefferson Airplane, the 13th Floor Elevators and The Black Angels are the names they cite. It's a line that runs from the West Coast psych of the late sixties through to the heavier, fuzzier end of the 13th Floor Elevators, and on to the more modern, droning psych of The Black Angels. The result is a hypnotic blend of psychedelic rock and vintage attitude, and they're known for explosive live performances.
It's a Halloween show, so the date fits the mood, and playing a headline set in their own city puts them centre stage. If you've been following them since they started, this is a chance to see them taking the full night. If you haven't caught them yet, it's a good place to start.
