Progressive rock band John Hackett Band, led by flautist John Hackett, plays The Greystones with support from folk artist Robyn Gair.
The John Hackett Band play The Greystones on Friday 23 October, with the music starting at 7.30pm. It's a progressive rock outfit led by flautist John Hackett, who also plays guitar, bass and keyboards. He's best known for his flute work with his brother, former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, on albums like Voyage of The Acolyte, Please Don't Touch and Spectral Mornings — and they still tour together as the Steve Hackett Trio.
Formed in 2016, the band pairs Hackett's pastoral flute textures with the funky interplay of drummer Duncan Parsons, bassist Jeremy Richardson and guitarist Nick Fletcher. Their sound ranges from pop and rock to jazz, classical and funk, and their second album, Red Institution, came out in 2025. That record took them on tour from Glasgow to Penzance, and the 2026 run finishes with dates in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Support comes from Sheffield singer-songwriter Robyn Gair, a folk artist who blends intricate fingerstyle guitar with witty lyricism. Between her and the band, it's a night that moves from folk to progressive rock, with a good bit of ground covered in between. Tickets are £20 for general admission, and the whole thing kicks off at 7.30pm at The Greystones on Greystones Road, S11 7BS.
