Jesus and the Zealots, the London baroque-goth outfit fronted by Henri, play Sidney and Matilda with support from Gelder.
Jesus and the Zealots play Sidney & Matilda on Sunday 25 October, with Gelder opening the bill. It's a Sunday night slot in the city centre, so you can head home without worrying about the Monday morning commute.
Jesus and the Zealots are a London baroque-goth outfit fronted by Henri. The 'baroque-goth' tag gives you a fair idea of where they sit: it's music that leans into the dramatic and the atmospheric, with a certain theatrical weight to it. They've been playing live for a few years, and that's where a lot of their material has taken shape before it ever hit a recording.
One of those tracks is Baby In The Cupboard, a 2025 single that Music Is To Blame Magazine called 'deliciously haunting'. It's built over several years of live performances, and the recording captures the ride: distorted guitars and heavy synth, with a gothic opening riff that draws a direct line back to Siouxsie and the Banshees' Spellbound. If you're into that kind of sound — the dark, driving side of post-punk with a bit of a flourish — it's a good place to start.

Gelder takes the early slot, so the night starts with two acts rather than one. Doors open at 19:00, and the music runs through to 22:00. Tickets are £5 in advance and £8 on the door, so it's a cheap one if you're around on a Sunday evening. You'll find them at Sidney & Matilda, 46 Sidney Street, Sheffield, S1 4RH.
