Award-winning folk and pedal steel guitarist Holly Carter plays Cafe No9, joined by Joe Wilkins on guitar.
Holly Carter plays Cafe No9 on Sunday 8 November, with doors opening at 7:00pm and the music starting at 7:30pm. She'll be joined on guitar by Joe Wilkins.
Carter is a Bristol songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known as a fingerstyle guitarist and one of the few professional female pedal steel players in the UK. She was named Instrumentalist of the Year at the Americana UK awards in 2023 and 2024, and she draws on the folk tradition, citing Chet Atkins and John Fahey as musical heroes. The show is part of a run marking five years since her debut EP, All of You...and Me, which she is re-recording and re-releasing. The set will also feature songs she describes as 'never heard before', which are due to appear on her second full-length album in 2027. Her first album, Leave Your Mark, was recorded live and directly to tape at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, with lino-printed artwork she designed and hand-cut herself.
