Award-winning storyteller Jason Buck brings H.P. Lovecraft's classic gothic horror tale to life as a cold-case investigation.
Jason Buck brings The Call of Cthulhu to Cafe No9 on Monday 26 October, reimagining H.P. Lovecraft's classic gothic horror tale as a cold-case investigation. Buck is an award-winning storyteller, and this is his take on the story that launched the Lovecraftian mythos.
Rather than a straight retelling, the show follows a narrator sifting through the notes left by the nephew of a recently and mysteriously deceased Professor of Archaeology. That trail leads to sinister predictions of the narrator's own doom, and that of mankind. Reviewers have described it as a fresh take on the material that draws the audience steadily into the mythos, echoing through to modern times with technology and new facts that make the horror plausible in the digital age. It's a story that starts with a dead professor's papers and ends with something far larger and more unsettling.
