Symphonic black metal show by Hecate Enthroned, supporting their new album 'The Corpse of a Titan, a Lament Long Buried', at Corporation.
Hecate Enthroned are back at Corporation on Saturday 17 October, playing in support of their new album, The Corpse of a Titan, a Lament Long Buried. They're not alone on the bill: Terminal Sun are joining them, with local support from Fakeout and Thunarwulf.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, it's worth knowing where they come from. Hecate Enthroned started in 1995 as one of the most intense acts in the Black Death Metal scene, hailing from Wrexham. Their demo An Ode for a Haunted Wood was recorded at The Academy Studios in Yorkshire and got them noticed in the underground. The 1996 EP Upon Promethean Shores - Unscriptured Waters became a favourite among extreme metal fans, and its video was among the first extreme black metal clips to air on MTV.
Their sound really took shape in 1997 with The Slaughter of Innocence, a Requiem for the Mighty, produced by Andy Sneap, which established their signature orchestral black metal style. That was followed by Dark Requiems and Unsilent Massacre in 1998. In 2013, they signed with the Italian label Crank Music Group and released Virulent Rapture. These days they're regarded as one of the UK's finest purveyors of symphonic black metal, and this show is their return to Corporation.
