Professional boxing match featuring Dalton 'Thunder' Smith defending his WBC World Super Lightweight title against Alberto Puello at the Utilita Arena Sheffield.
Dalton Smith is back in the ring at Utilita Arena Sheffield on Saturday 24 October, defending his WBC world super lightweight title in front of his home crowd. He's taking on Alberto Puello, a Dominican southpaw and two-time world champion who previously took the gold from Subriel Matias.
It's a match that's been a long time coming. The two were originally scheduled to meet in May, but an injury set things back and the clash was called off. Now fully fit, Smith returns to the ring in Sheffield. He's known around here as the 'Steel City King', and he's coming off a huge win in January when he stopped Subriel Matias with a fifth-round knockout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to become world champion. This is his first defence of the WBC belt, and he's doing it on home soil.
The main event is just one part of a full card put on by Matchroom Boxing. Giorgio Visioli takes on Maxi Hughes for the WBC International Silver lightweight title, and Shannon Ryan faces Emma Dolan for the British, Commonwealth and IBF Intercontinental super flyweight titles. Further down the bill, Leo Atang fights an opponent still to be confirmed, Aqib Fiaz takes on Joran Flynn, and Joe Hayden meets Will Harrison. Between the main event and the undercard, there's boxing across three different weight classes in one night.
