Outdoor foraging workshop led by a professional forager from Forage Box, where participants identify, pick and taste wild fungi, fruit, flowers and foliage.
Forage Box are bringing one of their Forage & Nibble workshops to Graves Park on Sunday 6 December, from 11 am to 2 pm. It's a three-hour session run by a professional forager, and it follows the four 'F's of foraging: fungi, fruit, flowers and foliage. You'll spend the morning identifying, picking and tasting whatever wild species are out on the day, and the walk finishes with a wild snack cooked fresh in the woods, homemade sourdough with wild pickles and preserves, or even a slice of cake.
Forage Box pitch these as educational experiences rather than basket-filling sessions, so the focus is more on learning what's underfoot than coming home with a full bag. They're run in a welcoming, informal way that works for everyone from absolute novices to experienced hobby foragers, and families, bushcrafters and dog-walkers are all welcome. If you've done one of their shorter Taster workshops before, this is a step up from that.
It's part of a wider series of Forage & Nibble workshops that Forage Box run at numerous locations across the country, and they're their most popular events. The whole thing sits under their motto, 'Always Wild, Always Sustainable, Always Delicious', and they frame wild food as tastier, healthier and better for the planet than supermarket fare.
