Monthly poetry and spoken word night at Hop Hideout with open mic slots, held on the last Friday of every month.
First Draughts is back at Hop Hideout on Friday 27 November, from 8 pm to 10 pm. It's the monthly poetry and spoken word night that runs on the last Friday of every month, and this one is run by The Sheffield Bard.
The whole thing is built around community and craft — beer and verse — and about creating a space that's genuinely open, friendly and supportive, with no judgment, just good vibes and great lines. It's a night for listening as much as for performing, and it's as much about the people in the room as it is about what's happening on the mic.
There are open mic slots available for anyone who wants to perform, whether you've got a poem, some spoken word, a short story or just a rhythmic rant you've been working on. It's a low-pressure way to get something in front of an audience, and the open mic is a big part of what the night is about.
