Documentary about Claude Monet, the Impressionist painter, from the Exhibition on Screen series, screening at Film Showroom.
Exhibition on Screen: Monet is coming to Showroom in May, part of the Exhibition on Screen series that brings gallery and artists' films to the cinema. It's a documentary on Claude Monet, and it's being screened as part of a new season of feature films about some of the world's best-loved artists, each one a cinematic journey into their personal and creative lives.
Monet is one of the most recognisable names in art, the figurehead of the Impressionist movement, and celebrated for his revolutionary use of light and colour. The film follows the man who gave the movement its name, and takes you into one of the most famous gardens in art history. It's an hour and a half long, in English, and was originally presented to celebrate Tate Britain's Monet and Time exhibition.
If you've never heard of Exhibition on Screen, it's a pioneering series of gallery and artists' films made for the cinema, and this season brings brand-new feature films about several of the world's most famous artists. This one is the Monet entry, so it's a good place to start if he's your favourite.
