Live concert by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emma Stevens at The Greystones on Greystones Road.
Emma Stevens plays The Greystones on Wednesday 28 October, with the night starting at 7:30pm. She's a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Guildford, and if you're not familiar with her, the first thing to know is how many instruments she brings to the table. She picked up a guitar at two and went on to learn the cello, piano, banjo, ukulele, mandolin and bass, so she's as comfortable switching between them as she is singing.
Her radio record is a good place to start: four consecutive BBC Radio 2 playlisted singles, extensive international airplay, and an iTunes single of the week with Riptide. That's the sort of thing that gets you noticed, and she's spent plenty of time on the road supporting some big names — The Feeling, Take That, Wet Wet Wet, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Train, Albert Lee and Simply Red. Her music has also found its way onto BBC, ITV, Sky and Channel 4 shows, and it once featured on a Chinese TV show broadcast to 75 million people, which drew 500 million streams.
There's a personal side to her work that explains where it's coming from. After losing her mother to cancer in 2012, she's dedicated her life to her music, writing songs around positivity, hope and love. The critics have been kind, too: Terry Wogan called her 'just magical' and The Telegraph described her as 'a very talented multi-instrumentalist'.
