Relaxed evening of watercolour painting and cocktails led by Edgar Lowman to create a festive illustration of elves and helpers.
Elves & Helpers is a sip and paint workshop taking place at the Abbeydale Ballroom on Tuesday 8 December, from 7pm to 9pm. It's run by Cardigan Art and led by Sheffield watercolourist Edgar Lowman, and the whole thing is pitched as a relaxed evening of creativity, conversation and cocktails for anyone who wants to take home their own festive illustration.
Over the two hours, Lowman walks you through the basics of watercolour painting. Everyone works with materials provided to paint Father Christmas' elves and little helpers, and you can choose between a pre-drawn pencil pose or sketching something of your own if you'd rather start from scratch. It's designed so you don't need any prior experience to get something decent on paper by the end of the night.
The session is about as low-pressure as it sounds: the focus is on the process and the company as much as the painting, and you'll leave with a finished piece to keep. It's one of those things that works just as well as a solo mid-week treat as it does as a night out with friends, especially if you're looking for something a bit more hands-on than the usual Christmas drinks.
