A free leadership development day for culture leaders in Sheffield on wellbeing and resilience, led by Lucy Shaw and Dr Laura Crossley.
The Workstation hosts the Creative Futures Leadership Day on Thursday 5 November, a full-day session for culture leaders in Sheffield. It's aimed at aspiring and developing leaders across the city's creative and cultural sector, with a particular nod to those running small or medium arts organisations and mid-level leaders. The day runs from 10am to 4pm at 15 Paternoster Row in the city centre.
The focus is individual and organisational wellbeing, and the day frames resilience as more than just a personal trait. The idea is that it's shaped by how work is designed, led and experienced, and it draws on the strength of Sheffield's own cultural ecology. The session combines research, practical reflection and peer exchange, and it's designed to give freelancers, people in small creative organisations and team leaders a shared language for wellbeing and resilience, along with practical next steps to take away.
Leading the day are Lucy Shaw and Dr Laura Crossley. Crossley, a Clore Fellow (2023/24), shares insights from her research on burnout in the cultural sector, and Shaw is Founder and Director of Cultural Associates Oxford and an Associate Fellow at Oxford University's Saïd Business School. Mixed in with their lead are up to four five-minute lightning talks from participants, which celebrate work and good practice from across the city.
