Monthly ancestral crafting circle held in a yurt, using natural craft supplies and simple techniques.
Craft Circle in The Yurt returns to The Yurt of the Lane on Tuesday 3 November, starting at 19:00. It's a monthly ancestral crafting circle held in a yurt, built around natural craft supplies and simple techniques. The organisers describe it as a sacred place for women to gather, slow down, learn new skills, listen to medicine songs and sip herbal tea, while reconnecting with creativity, community and the ways of our ancestors.
Each month the group works with clay, wood, pigment, wool, stone and other gifts from nature. You can follow a suggested project or just let the making go its own way, so it works whether you've come with a particular idea in mind or just want to see what happens when you start. The focus is on the process and the company rather than a finished product, and the natural materials mean you're working with things you can find in the world around you.
It's a women's circle, and the yurt setting adds to the feeling of stepping away from the usual rush of the week. Between the making, there's herbal tea and medicine songs, and the whole thing is about taking a few hours to slow down and be creative with other people. If you've been looking for a way to get your hands dirty and spend an evening in good company, this is a gentle place to start.

Tickets are £15 and available via Eventbrite. The yurt is tucked off John Street in Clowne, S43 4LD, so it's a bit of a journey from the city centre, but that's part of the appeal — leaving the noise behind for a night. It starts at 19:00 on Tuesday 3 November.
