Five weekly in-person short story writing sessions for beginners, led by Rosie Carnall and Lorna Partington at The Writers Workshop.
The Writers Workshop are running Complete Fabrication, a five-week short story course at Orchard Square in Sheffield city centre, starting Monday 2 November. It's a multi-session workshop that takes you through the process step by step, from a blank page to a finished story of around 1,000 words. The sessions run every Monday evening from 2 November to 30 November, 6:30 to 8:45 pm, so you'll be back at it once a week for five weeks.
Rosie Carnall and Lorna Partington facilitate the course. They've aimed it at people new to short story writing, those who struggle to get a story over the finish line, and writers who just work better in the company of others. The whole point is to get something written from scratch, and past participants have praised the steady pace and the way it helps them rediscover their creativity.
It's part of what The Writers Workshop does around the city. They're a Sheffield-based organisation that runs in-person workshops, classes and social events built around four pillars: community, bringing together writers from all backgrounds; creativity, stimulating the writing process; craft, developing wordsmithing skills through self-editing and critiquing; and careers, helping writers professionalise and explore routes to publication. If you can't make it in person, there's a fully online version running on the same days.
