A show of storytelling and live music by Ailsa Dixon that weaves music and spoken word with stories of women, past and present, human and mythical.
Ailsa Dixon brings Cassandra to Alder in Neepsend, running from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 29 November. It's a show of storytelling and live music that she's written and performed herself, presented by The Story Forge.
Cassandra weaves music and spoken word around stories of women, past and present, human and mythical. It touches on belief, feminism, autonomy and climate justice, drawing on figures like a Scottish spaewife, the Orcadian witch Marian Ibster and a modern girl protesting in an Edinburgh flat. The performance is framed as a divinatory prophetic ritual, where prophecies, pyres, smoke and tears meld as Dixon's own story merges with the old myths.
