Variety cabaret show with comedy, circus, magic, poetry and clowning presented by the Boom Boom regulars, with a DJ after the show.
Cabaret Boom Boom returns to Walkley Community Centre on Saturday 14 November, another night in a run that's been going since 2006. The venue is the Edwardian Ruskin Hall, where they've put on more than 200 cabarets over the years, alongside Christmas shows at Crookes social club and appearances at local and international arts festivals.
This one is steered by the Boom Boom regulars Mr Maynard, Mr Lodge and Mr Bowfin, with Christian Lee, Hattie Hatstar and Stan Skinny on the bill, and DJ Charlie keeping things going. The night pulls together comedy, circus, magic, poetry and clowning, all held together by that regular trio of compères and an experienced crew. It's a variety show in the old-school sense: a few different acts on one bill rather than a single headliner.
The room itself is a big part of the experience. It's beautifully decorated with cabaret-style seating, a well-stocked bar and a fresh flower on every table. It's an intimate setup with limited capacity—only 100 tickets are available, so it's a small crowd rather than a big hall. One thing to keep in mind: the bar is cash-only, so bring some notes and coins if you're planning on drinking.

Doors open at 7:30pm, with the show running from 8:15pm to 10:45pm and DJ Charlie playing on until 11:30pm. Tickets are £23 for general admission and £19 for concessions—which covers over 65s, students and the unwaged. If you're going, it's worth getting yours in advance given the 100-seat limit.
