Free over-18s night of raggamuffin music by Big Red, presented by Jarred Up, at The Washington in Sheffield.
Big Red plays The Washington on Sunday 15 November, with the set running from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. It's a night put on by Jarred Up, and the only name on the bill is Big Red himself.
For those who haven't come across him, Big Red is a French raggamuffin artist, and he doesn't take the stage alone. He fronts a trio that includes members of the band The Orchestra (For Now), so it's a full band behind him rather than a solo act. The raggamuffin side tells you where the vocals sit — that dancehall-influenced, rhythmic style of singing and toasting — and having a proper band to back it up gives the whole thing a live, played-in feel.

It's a Sunday night, and the venue is The Washington, 79 Fitzwilliam St in the city centre, so it's an easy one to get to. Entry is free, which makes it a low-stakes way to catch a live set if you're not already familiar with his work. One thing to keep in mind: the night is restricted to over-18s, so you'll need to be of age to get in. With the music running from 7:30pm through to 10:30pm, it's a good length of a night without pushing too far into the early hours of a Monday morning. If you're around the city centre on the 15th, it's a straightforward one to drop into.
