Casual beginner Spanish conversation hour for A2 learners at The Beaten Track, part of the Spanish Socials meetups.
Beginner Spanish Hour is at The Beaten Track on Wednesday 4 November, from 18:00. It's a dedicated hour for people at the start of their Spanish learning journey — roughly A2 level — who want to get more confident speaking and using the language without the pressure of a formal class.
The session is run as part of 'Spanish Socials - Sheffield', which is put on by Nory Sike. Sike describes the group as the UK's first and only Spanish Language Retreat provider and community hub, and the hour is just one part of what they do: they run weekly Spanish meetups, cooking courses, urban retreats, book clubs and parties. This particular hour is aimed at those who've got the basics down but still feel a bit hesitant when it comes to actually talking.
It's a low-pressure space to practise with other learners at a similar level, kept casual and lightly structured. There's a dedicated table for the group, and beginner-friendly games and prompts on hand to keep the conversation moving when you run out of things to say. The idea is to get you talking with people who are in the same boat, rather than staring at a textbook or worrying about getting every verb tense exactly right.
