Comedy show Barbara at The Greystones.
Barbara play The Greystones on Saturday 7 November, with doors opening at 7:00pm. They're a chamber pop group from Brighton, and their sound draws on 1970s greats like the Kinks, ABBA and ELO. It's a broad mix: 70s US AM radio, English music hall, Broadway-style catchiness, sequinned power pop, Disney strings and golden harmonies, all held together with a literary approach.
They've spent their time on the road, touring with Paul Weller, The Divine Comedy, Haircut Hundred, Kid Creole & the Coconuts and Dean Friedman. Along the way, they've picked up some high praise from the people they've shared stages with. Paul Weller called them 'one of the best groups about', Chris Difford of Squeeze said 'we need more Barbara in our lives', Neil Hannon described them as 'very poptastic' and Phill Jupitus noted their 'innate sense of melody and arrangement'.
