Art class for parents and carers with babies under 12 months, using non-messy media and sensory toys at the Millennium Gallery.
Baby Friendly Art Club is back at the Millennium Gallery on Tuesday 20 October, from 11am to 12:30pm. It's an art class run by Sheffield Museums for parents and carers with babies aged 12 months and under, and it's part of their wider Creative Workshops collection.
Each session takes its lead from different objects and images in the gallery's collection. You can use them as a starting point for your own work, or just set them aside and go with your own ideas instead. The materials are provided, and they stick to non-messy media, so you don't have to worry about the cleanup. If you've got your own supplies you'd rather use, you're more than welcome to bring them along. Alongside the art stuff, there's a selection of sensory toys for the little ones to play with, comfy cushions to sit on, and dedicated parking for pushchairs.
The gallery is breast-feeding friendly and has baby changing facilities on site, so the practical side of bringing a baby along is well looked after. The classes run as stand-alone sessions, which means you can just drop in for this one or join several across the programme without needing to commit to the whole thing. It's a good way to get some creative time in while your baby is right there with you.
