A stand-up comedy and wine-tasting show written by Merrick Watts, pairing comedy with a curated tasting of wine varietals from around the world.
An Idiot's Guide to Wine is coming to Peddler Market in Kelham Island, with four dates to choose from: Saturday 14 November, Friday 27 November, Thursday 10 December, and Saturday 27 January 2027. It's a stand-up comedy show paired with a curated tasting of wine varietals from around the world, pitched at wine connoisseurs and total beginners alike.
The show was written and originally performed by Merrick Watts, who's billed as the only comedian in the world to hold a WSET Level 3 qualification. He developed it alongside Grapes of Mirth, with production by Fever. For these Sheffield dates, the material is performed by a local comedian.
It runs for about 70 minutes and is performed in English. It's for over-18s only, and while alcohol is part of the experience, drinking is voluntary. Non-alcoholic drinks are available for an additional fee, which isn't included in the ticket price. There's no recording allowed during the performance.
