Live show by the cinematic indie-folk band Pavey Ark at Cafe No9, with £16.50 tickets including a BYOB fee.
Pavey Ark play Cafe No9 on Friday 30 October, their only Sheffield date this autumn. They're an indie-folk band from East Yorkshire, and their sound is built around atmospheric vocals, strings and horns layered over finger-picked guitar, melodic bass and complex percussion. It's an orchestral-folk approach that pulls from a wide range of influences: the laid-back 1960s and 70s folk of Jackson C. Frank and Love, through to Nick Drake and Radiohead.
They've been playing larger stages over the last few years, including SXSW in Texas in 2025, the Glastonbury Acoustic Stage in 2022 and closing Stage 3 at the Cambridge Folk Festival in 2023. Their debut album, Close Your Eyes and Think of Nothing, got strong reviews and was one of the BBC's picks for National Album Day in 2022. Their second record, More Time, More Speed, came out in November 2025, mixed by LA-based producer Paul Butler with Adrian McNally of The Unthanks leading the live string quartet session. That string quartet is a good indicator of where the band sits — it's folk with a chamber-music weight to it, rather than just a singer and a guitar.

Cafe No9 is one of South Yorkshire's most beloved live music destinations and a cornerstone of the city's scene, so it's a fitting spot for a band that blends folk with something more cinematic. Doors open at 7:00pm and the music starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are £16.50, which includes a BYOB fee, so you can bring your own drinks along.
