Intimate over-14s show by alt-country band Lambchop, with Kurt Wagner and special guest Andrew Broder, at the Octagon Centre.
Lambchop play the Octagon Centre on Wednesday 25 November, their first Sheffield date in a new run of intimate shows across Europe and the UK. This follows a string of appearances that included London's Barbican and Primavera Sound, so it's part of a wider return to these smaller rooms rather than a one-off.
On stage it'll be Kurt Wagner joined by Minneapolis-based musician and producer Andrew Broder. The set is stripped-back, and they're playing through a mix of familiar and new material. Over the years they've built a live approach they describe as loose, curious and alive at the same time: songs stretch, shift and quietly transform from night to night. In this setting they open the songs out, letting space, electronics and improvisation reshape them as they go.
Lambchop are an American alt-country band from Nashville, Tennessee, known for their fluid membership and genre-blending music. These shows mark a new chapter for them — subtle, exploratory and unfolding in real time on stage — and find them still searching, still evolving and still surprising. It's a good way to hear how they're working at the moment, with the newer stuff sitting alongside the older songs.
