Free day-long antenatal course for women in their third trimester planning to give birth in Sheffield, covering late pregnancy, labour, birth and the newborn.
All in one day: Preparation for Birth and life with your New Baby is running at the Parentcraft Room on Saturday 12 December, from 10am to 4pm. It's a free day-long antenatal course run by the Jessop Wing Antenatal Clinic, and it's for women planning to give birth in Sheffield who're in their third trimester. If you're expecting and haven't got your dates sorted yet, this is a good one to get in the diary.
The morning session covers the changes of late pregnancy, how to recognise labour, and coping strategies. There's a coffee break and lunch in the middle to keep you going before the afternoon kicks in. The second half is all about the birth itself and meeting the baby for the first time: pain relief, induction and Caesarean, skin-to-skin and the 'Golden Hour', feeding choices, handling the newborn, and recognising when a baby may be unwell. It's a fair bit to take in, but having it all in one go beats chasing separate sessions across a few weeks.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Your birth partner is welcome to come along too, so you're both on the same page. If you need a bit more after the day, a follow-up MST link is sent by email. The whole thing is held at the Parentcraft Room, Jessop Wing Antenatal Clinic, Tree Root Walk, Sheffield S10 2SF, and it's free — your ticket admits both you and your birth partner. It runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 12 December.
