Free all-day antenatal course for women in their third trimester planning to give birth in Sheffield, covering late pregnancy, labour, birth and newborn care.
The Jessop Wing is running an all-in-one preparation day for birth and life with your new baby on Sunday 22 November, from 10am to 4pm. It's held in the Parentcraft Room at the Jessop Wing Antenatal Clinic on Tree Root Walk, and it's open to women planning to give birth in Sheffield who are in their third trimester. A single ticket covers both the expectant mother and her birth partner, so you can come through it together.
The day follows the journey from late pregnancy into those first few days with a newborn. The morning session covers the changes in your body during late pregnancy, how to recognise when labour is starting, and the different options for pain relief. After lunch, the focus shifts to the birth itself and meeting your baby for the first time: skin-to-skin contact and the 'golden hour', feeding choices, how to handle a newborn, and caring for your baby responsively and safely.
Because it's a full day, there's a coffee break in the morning, lunch, and a tea break in the afternoon, so you're not just sitting through one long stretch. The organisers have also mentioned that more courses will be available in the following months, if this particular date doesn't quite line up with your timeline.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
