Free birth preparation day for women in their third trimester planning to give birth in Sheffield, covering late pregnancy, labour and newborn care.
The Parentcraft Room is running a one-day birth and baby preparation course at the Jessop Wing Antenatal Clinic on Saturday 5 December, from 10 am to 4 pm. It's for women planning to give birth in Sheffield, and it's aimed at those in their third trimester, with more dates coming in the months that follow.
The morning session focuses on the lead-up to the big day: changes to your body in late pregnancy, how to recognise when labour is actually starting, and the different coping strategies you can use. They'll also go over pain relief, induction, and Caesarean birth, so you've got a handle on the options before you're in the thick of it.
After lunch, the focus shifts to the birth itself and the first few days with your baby. That includes skin-to-skin and the Golden Hour, your feeding choices, how to handle a newborn, and how to care for your baby responsively and safely. It's a fair bit to take in, but having it all in one day means you don't have to keep coming back over several weeks.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

One of the best bits is that your ticket admits you and your birth partner, so whoever's by your side can be in the room and hear everything too. The whole thing runs from the Parentcraft Room at the Jessop Wing Antenatal Clinic, Tree Root Walk, Sheffield S10 2SF, on Saturday 5 December, 10 am to 4 pm.
