Screening of climbing films 'Little Wings' and 'Trad Stars' from the BritRock Film Tour, part of the Hope Valley Cinema series.
The BritRock Film Tour comes to the Maynard Hotel in Grindleford on Thursday 21 January, part of the Hope Valley Cinema series. It's the tour's 12th year, and the night runs for 150 minutes including an interval.
The bill opens with Big Walls and Bedtime Stories, a 15-minute short featuring climber Leo Houlding. That's followed by Little Wings, 25 minutes following climber Tina Breslin. The main feature is Trad Stars, a 60-minute documentary by Al Lee celebrating UK trad climbing. It brings together a fair few names from the scene: onsights from Siebe Vanhee and Robbie Phillips, first ascents by Ian Cooper, hard repeats by Billy Ridal and Katie Keely, and blind climber Jess Dufton. Between the three, you're looking at a good hour and a half of climbing on screen.

The BritRock Film Tour describes itself as bringing together the best new UK climbing and adventure films alongside world-class athletes and everyday questers. This Grindleford screening is one stop in that tour, and it sits within the Hope Valley Cinema series, so it's as much about the local climbing community as it is about the films. The whole thing runs from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM at the Maynard Hotel in Grindleford (S32 2HE). Tickets are £14 standard, with concessions and group discounts both £10.
