A concert featuring Taking Back Sunday, Thrice and Saves the Day at Petco Park, bringing together three fixtures of early-2000s alternative rock.
Taking Back Sunday headline Gallagher Square at Petco Park on Sunday, October 11, with Thrice and Saves the Day on the bill. It's a pairing of three fixtures of early-2000s alternative rock, all from the same era and roughly the same orbit. Taking Back Sunday, from Long Island, helped define that generation's angst with anthems like "Cute Without the 'E'" and "MakeDamnSure," and played a part in shaping the emo and post-hardcore scenes of the time.
Thrice, a California quartet, started as post-hardcore pioneers and moved into experimental rock. Their New Pantheon Award-nominated Vheissu was followed by The Alchemy Index, a four-volume collection spread across two releases of four EPs each, with each EP devoted to one of the classical elements. Saves the Day, from New Jersey, blends emo, pop-punk and alternative rock, with "At Your Funeral" and "Freakish" among their classics.
