Peter Bjorn and John perform their Writer's Block 20th Anniversary Tour, with Josh Rouse opening.
Peter Bjorn and John are playing Music Box SD on Friday, October 16, as part of their Writer's Block 20th Anniversary Tour. The Swedish indie-pop trio is touring the record that put them on the map, Writer's Block, which came out in 2006 and became one of the defining indie records of the mid-2000s. It earned Pitchfork's 'Best New Music' and The Guardian called it 'a delight, from start to finish.'
If you've only heard one song from that era, it's likely 'Young Folks,' featuring Victoria Bergsman. Its whistled melody became an era-defining anthem, cited by The New York Times, and the album's songs found a second life in hip-hop: Kanye West rapped over 'Young Folks' and Drake sampled 'Let's Call It Off.'
Opening the night is Josh Rouse, an American singer-songwriter who recorded his debut, Dressed Like Nebraska, in Nashville in 1998. His 2003 album 1972 produced 'Directions,' which Cameron Crowe used in Vanilla Sky, and in 2014 he won a Goya Award for best song for 'Do You Really Want To Be In Love' from La Gran Familia Española.
