Reggae musician Landon McNamara performs at the fifth annual Mission Bayfest, a three-day music festival in San Diego.
Landon McNamara plays Mariner's Point Park on Saturday, October 17, as part of the fifth annual Mission Bayfest. The festival runs from October 16 to 18, and McNamara's set is scheduled for 12 PM PDT on the Saturday.
McNamara is a reggae musician, Ford model, and professional surfer, and the surfing part of that description is where he comes from. He was born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, in a family deep in the surfing world, and followed in the footsteps of his father, his uncle, and his older brother, surfing big waves at Pipeline and around the world. Alongside that, he took up singing, songwriting, and playing guitar, drawing on reggae, alternative, and acoustic music. He teamed up with Sea Major Seven Studio and producer Noah Cronin to record his first full album, which was due in winter 2016.
His set is one piece of a much larger weekend. Mission Bayfest is a three-day festival built around a lineup that crosses reggae, roots, punk, rock, ska, and alternative, all set against the backdrop of Mission Bay. This year the festival adds the Stage on the Sand alongside the returning Under The Bridge Stage, so there's more than one spot to catch music throughout the weekend.
