Singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun performs live on her The Heavy Things Tour at The Observatory North Park in San Diego.
Joy Oladokun brings The Heavy Things Tour to The Observatory North Park on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. It's a single-bill night, so it's just her on the stage.
Oladokun is a queer Black singer-songwriter born in Casa Grande, Arizona, and her music pulls from a few different places at once—folk, R&B, rock, and pop. She's the daughter of Nigerian immigrants, and that background comes through in what she writes: songs about identity and social justice. If you're coming from her records, you'll recognize the titles Proof of Life, Observations from a Crowded Room, and Hope Is A Heavy Thing.
It's an all-ages show, so you can bring the kids along. The venue is connected to the West Coast Tavern, which serves dinner and drinks if you want to eat before the set. Parking is available at the structure across the street on 29th St, and validation is included with your ticket.
