Singer-songwriter Gaby Aparicio performs a fusion of Latin, world, pop, reggae and soul with her band La Buena Onda at the Tommy Bahama Store.
Gaby Aparicio plays the Tommy Bahama Store this Friday, October 9, at 5 PM. It's a free show, so you can just drop in and listen.
If you haven't caught her before, Aparicio is a singer-songwriter whose sound pulls from a few different places. She describes it as a fusion of Latin, world, pop, reggae, and soul, and she plays it with her band, La Buena Onda. It's the kind of music that blends a few different traditions into one set rather than sticking to a single genre.
That mix comes from her own background. She has coastal Uruguayan and Italian family roots, and she spent time in Orlando, Florida, before moving to San Diego in 2014. Around town, she's played venues like Music Box and festivals like Adams Ave. Unplugged and Chicano Park Day, and she's opened for Latin Grammy winners Monsieur Periné, Poncho Sanchez, Caloncho, La Santa Cecilia, and Jenny and the Mexicats.

She's also picked up some recognition for her songwriting along the way. She's a two-time winner of Cari Cole's Signature Songwriting Circle Contest and took home the 2018 West Coast International Song Contest. Her album La Bella Vita was recorded by Grammy-winning producer Alan Sanderson and earned a nomination for SDMA Best World Music Album.
It's a free show on Friday, October 9, starting at 5 PM at the Tommy Bahama Store in San Diego.
