Concert by the high-energy all-female Americana rock band Dolly's Revenge at The Cordova Bar.
Dolly's Revenge play The Cordova Bar on Sunday, November 8. It's a San Diego show for a San Diego band, and if you've never seen them live, this is a good place to start.
They're an all-female Americana trio that spans three generations of musicianship. At the core are singer-songwriter and guitarist Ashley E. Norton, bassist Marcia Claire, and drummer Amanda Albini. They've picked up several San Diego music award nominations and play across California as well as on tour, so they're as much a touring act as they are a local one. Before they were Dolly's Revenge, they went by Lady Psychiatrist's Booth.
Critics have described the band as "a little creepy, a little funny and a whole lot of heart," and that gives you a fair idea of the energy they bring to a stage. The drummer has earned a reputation as "animal," and the frontwoman is known for climbing onto bars, tables, and whatever else the room offers as a stage. It's the kind of show where the performance is as much about the movement as it is about the music.
