Concert by the high-energy all-female Americana rock band Dolly's Revenge at The Cordova Bar.
Dolly's Revenge play The Cordova Bar on Sunday, October 11. They're a San Diego Americana band, all-female and high-energy, and they've gone by a different name before — they used to be Lady Psychiatrist's Booth.
The trio spans three generations of musicianship, with singer-songwriter and guitarist Ashley E. Norton, bassist Marcia Claire, and drummer Amanda Albini at its core. They've picked up several San Diego music award nominations and play across California as well as on tour, so this is one of their home-city dates.
Critics have described them as "a little creepy, a little funny and a whole lot of heart," and that description carries into how they play. The drummer is known as "animal," and the frontwoman is given to climbing onto bars, tables, and whatever the world offers as a stage. If you've seen them before, you know the stage doesn't stay a stage for long. If you haven't, that's a good place to start: they're a high-energy act that doesn't just stand behind the mics. Between the three generations on stage and the way they work the room, there's a lot to watch beyond the music.
