Concert by the indie rock and punk band AJJ at Quartyard, featuring their energetic live show.
AJJ play Quartyard on Saturday, February 6, 2027. The Phoenix indie rock and punk band is the sole bill for the night, so the whole set belongs to them.
They've been around since 2004, when Sean Bonnette and Ben Gallaty first teamed up. These days the group has grown into a five-piece: Bonnette and Gallaty are joined by guitarist and keyboardist Preston Bryant, cellist Mark Glick, and drummer Kevin Higuchi. Much of what they're known for comes from their apocalyptic themes and a live show that's landed them on bills with Joyce Manor, Against Me!, ROAR, Jeff Rosenstock, and Kimya Dawson, as well as festivals like The Fest.
Their more recent work shows a shift in how they put records out. In January 2020 they self-released Good Luck Everybody, and in 2023 they put out Disposable Everything, their eighth studio album and their debut on Hopeless Records. That one was recorded with David Jerkovich in 2022 as a full five-piece, and the two people who started the band have different takes on it: Bonnette has called it their happiest record, while Gallaty has admitted he never expected the band to become what it has. Somewhere in between those two records, the 2020 track "Body Terror Song" became a viral TikTok hit.
