Concert by jazz and R&B guitarist Adam Hawley performing contemporary jazz, soulful grooves and holiday favorites as part of his Christmas in San Diego tour.
Adam Hawley plays Restoration Church on Friday, November 20, as part of his Christmas in San Diego tour. He'll be playing contemporary jazz, soulful grooves, and holiday favorites, so the set mixes his usual sound with some seasonal material.
Hawley is a guitarist, performer, sideman, and educator known for a groove-oriented approach to contemporary jazz and R&B. A Portland, Oregon native, he started playing at age eight and moved to Los Angeles in 2002, where he earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California while teaching at Musician's Institute, Chaffey College, and Saddleback College. He launched his solo career with his 2016 debut album Just the Beginning, which produced three smooth-jazz chart-toppers, including "35th Street," and followed it with Double Vision, which featured a cover of Adele's "Hello."
Beyond his own records, he's played and recorded with pop, jazz, and R&B artists like Natalie Cole, Jennifer Lopez, Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, and the Manhattan Transfer. That range shows up in the setlist, which pulls from contemporary jazz and R&B alongside the holiday tunes.
