University of Utah School of Dance showcase of faculty choreographers and re-stagers, with a new contemporary work by Dr. Hyoungnam Kim and excerpts from 'The Nutcracker'.
The University of Utah School of Dance presents Continuum at the Marriott Center for Dance from November 12 to 21, 2026. It's a showcase that puts the school's own faculty choreographers and re-stagers center stage, and it marks the second Korean universities exchange project the school has hosted.
The guest of honor is Dr. Hyoungnam Kim, a professor at Sejong University in Korea and the general director of Toetmaru Dance Company. He's created a new contemporary work specifically for the UU students to perform, so you'll be seeing something that didn't exist until this collaboration brought him here. Alongside that, faculty members Christine McMillan and Satu Hummasti will be presenting their own new contemporary and neo-classical works, which means the bill pulls from a few different dance traditions in one evening.
There's a familiar touch in the mix, too: an excerpt from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, staged by faculty member Luc Vanier. Between the new contemporary pieces and a nod to one of the most recognizable ballets in the world, the program covers a fair amount of ground.
