Annual show of about 1,000 volunteer musical artists in traditional clothing performing music and dances from Latin America and African cultures.
Luz de las Naciones returns to the Conference Center on Friday, Nov 13 and Saturday, Nov 14, with both shows starting at 8 PM. Now in its 24th year, the production is presented by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a celebration of faith, unity, and the cultural heritage of Latin America.
Around 1,000 volunteer musical artists take the stage in traditional clothing, performing music and dance from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Spain, and Venezuela, with additional performances from African and African-American cultures. Director Israel GonzΓ‘lez-Nieri says this year's program represents more countries than in previous editions, and that the diversity of music, dance, and tradition on stage strengthens the connection of the audience as children of God.
If you can't make it in person, the Saturday night show is broadcast live in Spanish, with English and Portuguese versions subtitled. The whole thing is also recorded for on-demand viewing in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
