Monthly after-school graphic novel club for tweens in 3rd through 6th grade to discuss the month's chosen graphic novel with snacks, crafts and trivia.
Totally Tweens! Graphic Novel Club is a monthly get-together for tweens in 3rd through 6th grade, and the next session is Wednesday, October 28, from 4 PM to 5 PM at the Salt Lake City Public Library Marmalade Branch. It's held in the library's multipurpose room, so it's an easy spot to find once you're inside.
The format is pretty straightforward: the group reads a chosen graphic novel each month and meets up to talk about it. It's not just a discussion, though. They bring in snacks, crafts, and trivia to keep things moving, so it feels more like a social hour than a classroom. If you're looking for a way to get your kid reading with other kids their own age, this is a good place to start.
One of the best parts is how easy it is to get involved. You don't have to go out and buy the book yourself; anyone interested can just stop by the Marmalade branch and borrow a copy before the session. That means the only thing you really need to bring is the kid. Since it's geared toward 3rd through 6th graders, it's a good fit for that middle-school transition window when kids are still into reading but want something a bit more social.

It's a recurring thing, too—the club meets on the second Wednesday of every month from 4 PM to 5 PM at the Marmalade branch, so if this one doesn't work out, there's usually another one coming up soon. The next one is Wednesday, October 28, 4 PM to 5 PM, in the multipurpose room.
