Live performance by The Rat Utopia Experiment, a girl-fronted circus rock band from Washington state, on their first tour.
The Rat Utopia Experiment play Hypha House on Friday, October 16, from 7 PM to 10 PM. They go by T.R.u.E for short, and they're a girl-fronted 'circus' rock band from Washington state, billed as the Pacific Northwest's favorite circus act since 2022. For a few years they stayed mostly around their hometown, but the freedom of graduation and the release of the single 'Lobotomize Me' pushed them beyond their local stomping grounds to a growing underground following. They signed to Mom + Pop Music in August 2026 and are now on their first tour, playing headlining shows and opening for the Linda Lindas on the Gotta Get Out album release tour. They've put out music videos for 'Lobotomize Me' and 'Three-Banded Armadillo'.
On stage, the lineup is Phia on vocals, Francis on bass, Maddox on lead guitar, Drix on rhythm guitar, and Christian on drums. Their live show leans on theatricality, intricate lyrics, and intense riffs, blending political messaging with emotional storytelling in a high-energy, tear-jerking stage presence. It's a girl-fronted five-piece with two guitars, so there's plenty of room for those riffs to sit side by side.
