Free interactive story time for young visitors at the Natural History Museum of Utah, reading 'The Great Great Salt Lake Monster Mystery' and ending with a craft or game.
Story Time @ NHMU returns to the Natural History Museum of Utah on Tuesday, November 17, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. This month's session is held in the Our Backyard Exhibition, and the book on the list is The Great Great Salt Lake Monster Mystery by Bonnie Baxter and Jamie Butler.
If you haven't come across it before, Story Time @ NHMU is part of the museum's monthly 'Our Backyard' series, an interactive story time meant for young visitors. Each month they pick a book inspired by the natural world and read it aloud to the group. Once the reading is done, the session wraps up with a small game, a craft, or an interactive activity tied to the subject, so the kids get to do something with what they've just heard rather than just sitting and listening.
This particular installment follows a group of curious children searching for the mysterious Great Salt Lake Monster. Along the way, they uncover things about the science, wildlife, and unique ecosystem of Utah's Great Salt Lake, which makes it a good fit for the Our Backyard setting. The whole thing is aimed at youth and families, and the session runs for 45 minutes.
