Family-friendly after-hours evening at the Natural History Museum of Utah with hands-on STEAM activities, a Halloween scavenger hunt and a dance party, with costumes encouraged.
Spooky Science Night is back at the Natural History Museum of Utah on Wednesday, October 28, from 5 PM to 9 PM. It's part of the museum's Spooky Science Nights, a series of family-friendly, after-hours evenings they run throughout the spooky season. The whole thing gives science a playful Halloween twist, so it's a good one to bring kids along to.
The main draw is the hands-on Family STEAM Explorations. You can spend the evening designing a spiderweb, building a spider bot, or creating a floating ghost—the kind of projects that let kids actually make something rather than just looking at it. There's also a Halloween-themed museum scavenger hunt that takes you through the galleries, and the Ghost Moth Ball, which is a dance party to cap things off. Costumes are encouraged, so it's a night where dressing up is part of the fun.
It's a family-friendly evening, and since it runs after hours, you get the museum to yourself without the usual daytime crowds. Between the building projects, the scavenger hunt, and the dance party, there's enough going on to keep kids busy for the full four hours. If you've got little ones who like to tinker, the STEAM stations are the real heart of the night.
