Halloween-themed storytime with authors Shannon and Dean Hale to celebrate the next Princess in Black book, with costumes encouraged.
Shannon and Dean Hale are hosting a Halloween-themed storytime at The King's English Bookshop on Saturday, October 31, from 11 AM to 12 PM. The two authors, who live right here in Salt Lake City and have hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, are gathering readers to celebrate the next book in the Princess in Black series.
In this one, Princess Magnolia throws on her Princess in Black cape and mask as a quick Halloween costume and sets out trick-or-treating. Along the way, she crosses paths with a small orange monster with horns who devours an onion, an eraser, and a bar of soap, and asks for a goat at every door. That trail eventually leads her to Duff's goat shack. It's exactly the kind of story that works best when read aloud, and since it's Halloween, the authors are encouraging the audience to come in costume.

If you're planning to go, there are a few things to keep in mind. Pre-signed copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event, and you can also order signed copies from the bookshop's website. After the reading, the Hales will stick around for a photo-op, so you'll have a chance to get a picture with them. The event is free and open to the public, though an RSVP is required. It runs from 11 AM to 12 PM on Halloween morning at The King's English Bookshop, 1511 South 1500 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105.
