Chinese classical dance and live orchestral show by Shen Yun Performing Arts, with multimedia effects, at the Eccles Theater.
Shen Yun Performing Arts is coming to the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater for a run that starts Thursday, March 11, and goes through Sunday, March 14, 2027. The production will play in Delta Hall, and since it's a four-day run, you've got a few different nights to choose from.
If you've never seen them, here's the basic: the show is built around classical Chinese dance, one of the world's oldest art forms. That's the core, but it's paired with a live orchestra and a backdrop of multimedia effectsâCGI, atmospheric visuals, and sound effects that run throughout the performance. The music is all original, and the whole thing is meant to be an immersive experience, visually and aurally.
One thing that sets Shen Yun apart is that they don't repeat the same show year after year. For every performance season, the company unveils an entirely new lineup of dances, songs, and musical scores. This particular production draws on stories and legends from the distant past, reaching back to the Middle Kingdomâa place of divine harmony populated by dragons, sages, and immortals.

There's some context worth knowing, too. Shen Yun is based in New York and was founded in 2006 by a group of Falun Dafa practitioners. They describe their mission as reviving the essence of 5,000 years of Chinese culture, which they regard as a divinely inspired civilization. It's a non-profit organization with spiritual roots, and it's banned in modern China, where the Communist Party is officially an atheist regime. Despite that, they continue to tour internationally.
The production runs about two hours, including one intermission, and brings together around 100 performers, including the live orchestra. Tickets start at $85.
