Free, all-ages evening of multilingual storytelling and poetry by local spoken-word artists to kick off the Halloween weekend.
Salt Lake Spooky Speaks takes over the Eccles Theater Grand Lobby on Friday, October 30, from 7 PM to 9:30 PM. It's an evening of multilingual storytelling and poetry centered on the magic and mystery of the autumn season, with local spoken-word artists taking the stage to share folklore, fables, and spooky tales. The whole thing is framed as a way to kick off the Halloween weekend.
Because it's multilingual, you'll hear stories in more than one language throughout the night, and the focus stays on the spoken wordโfolklore, fables, and those kinds of spooky tales that fit the season. Local artists are the ones performing, so it's a chance to hear Salt Lake City's own spoken-word community rather than a touring act. The timing puts it right on the eve of Halloween, so it works as a lead-in to whatever else you have planned for the holiday.
