The 20th edition of the climbing film festival, with four world-premiere films including a solo winter ascent of Cerro Torre.
Reel Rock is coming to the Jeanné Wagner Theatre on Sunday, November 15, at 7 PM. This is the 20th edition of the climbing film festival, which The North Face presents with support from Yeti and Petzl. It's a milestone year for the series—two decades since it started as a way to bring climbing films to the big screen—and the program reflects that with four world premieres.
Those four films cover a wide stretch of the climbing world. There's Olympic champion Janja Garnbret in Bibliographie, and a film on Michaela Kiersch. You'll also see adaptive climber Ben Mayforth and Colin Haley's solo winter ascent of Cerro Torre. Between the high-end competition, the adaptive side of the sport, and a solo winter climb in Patagonia, the lineup pulls from a few different corners of the community rather than sticking to one style. All four are world premieres, so this is one of the first times they'll be showing in a theater.
