Late-night sing-along screening of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' with a live performance by the Latter Day Transvestites, a local Rocky Horror shadowcast.
The Latter Day Transvestites are back at Broadway Centre Cinemas for a three-night run of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, playing October 29, 30, and 31. They're the city's longest-running shadowcast, and this is their Halloween weekend tradition: a live performance played out in front of the movie, with one auditorium running as a sing-a-long. Susan Steffee or Amanda 'Fucking' Dusoe will emcee the nights.
If you're not familiar with them, the Latter Day Transvestites have been feeding Salt Lake's Rocky Horror addiction since 1995. They got their start at the Tower Theatre and have since popped up on Fox 13 and at FanXperience, Fantasy Con, An October Evening, The Salty Horror International Film Festival and Convention, the Utah Pride Parade and Festival, the Utah Halloween Expo, FearCon, and the Halloween in Summer Festival, as well as in documentaries and films. The shows are staged by the Out of the Shadows Theater Group, a local film-theatre hybrid that also brought Repo! the Genetic Opera and Hedwig and the Angry Inch to the Tower Theatre and caters to cult-film followers.
Seating is general admission, and a Transylvanian Pack comes with each ticket. The show is rated R, so under Utah law you have to be at least 17 unless you're with a parent or guardian. All proceeds benefit SLFS/OSTG.
