Reading with Raptors at Discovery Gateway

Reading with Raptors is back at Discovery Gateway on Friday, August 14, 2027, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's a monthly program run by HawkWatch International, and the format is pretty straightforward: kids get to meet one of the organization's Raptor Ambassadors—a live bird of prey—and then read a storybook that matches the bird they've just met. Along the way, they learn a bit about raptors, so it's a mix of a story hour and a nature lesson.

If you're already spending the day at the museum, it's an easy add-on. The session is included with admission to Discovery Gateway, and there's no registration required—you just show up. The museum also has other raptor-related programming on the floor, so you can learn about Mesozoic dinosaurs like the Utah Raptor alongside their modern-day relatives, the birds of prey. The whole thing is made possible by Salt Lake County ZAP.

It's a good one for a morning with the kids, especially if they're into animals. The session runs from 11 AM to 12 PM on Friday, August 14, at the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum, 444 W 100 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Admission to the museum covers it, and no registration is necessary.
